Reaching new
customers through search engine success
"We've been astonished by the impact of our
redesigned web site" says Georgina Barr, one
half of the partnership running Bridport's Coastal Nets "the phone keeps
ringing and almost every enquiry begins 'I've
just found your site on Google...'"
Connecting with
customers
Coastal Nets
manufacture and install a range of fishing,
industrial and sports netting products. A
long-established and respected company, they'd
had a web site in place for several years. But
although their site was generating some
enquiries they felt sure there was more
potential in the on-line market. The primary
path to these potential new customers would be
through the search result pages.
Western Aspect was retained to perform a review
of Coastal Nets' existing web site and implement
a makeover as part of a search optimisation
strategy.
It was identified that the existing site, while
technically accomplished, was being hampered by
insufficiently search-targeted keyword content,
and that its top level pages could benefit from
a more 'Google-friendly' architecture. There
were also opportunities to improve the on-line
customer experience by clarifying the site's
navigation.
Relevant content matching search queries
Within a few weeks of the redeveloped site going
live Google referrals began climbing steadily.
Clearly there were plenty of people searching
for their products, and the new site's keyword
optimization was providing good, relevant
matches for the search terms those people were
using. Daily visitor traffic is now as much as
300% greater than the pre-makeover levels for
the site.
"We're almost too busy!" says Georgina. "Is it
going to carry on like this?"
