Description: Brunel's steamship the SS Great Britain was rescued from the south Atlantic, brought back to Bristol and restored to its former glory,
now an exhibit that celebrates both Bristol's maritime heritage and its association with the great Victorian engineer. To the left the smaller ship is
a replica of the 'Matthew', the ship in which John Cabot
reached Newfoundland in 1497 - pre-dating Columbus's 'discovery' of America.
